Vanilla Ice Cream
Ingredients You Will Need:
2 cups of heavy cream
2 cups of half-and-half
?" cups of sugar
1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
1 vanilla bean
5 egg yolks
Heat together the cream, half and half, sugar and vanilla extract in a saucepan. Next, divide the vanilla bean lengthwise, and scrape the seeds into the milk mixture. Follow by adding the bean's pod to the mixture.
Next, stir together the yolks and gradually add the milk mixture. Be sure to keep stirring while you add the milk. Once fully combined, pour the mixture back into the saucepan. Cook on low heat while stirring. You'll know the mixture is ready when a heat-resistant spatula is covered with a custard that isn't runny. Chill the mixture, and then freeze in an ice cream maker, making sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Strawberry Ice Cream
Ingredients You Will Need:
3 cups of strawberries
2 ½ cups of sugar, divided
1 can of condensed milk
I cup of whipping cream
3 egg whites, beaten until stiff
2 ½ quarts of skim milk
Drop of red food coloring
First, chop up strawberries, and mix with a half cup of sugar. Allow to sit for five hours. Next, blend the strawberries until smooth in texture. Mix in the remaining sugar and condensed milk, and then beat the cream and the egg whites into the mixture. Take the mixture, and pour it into an ice cream maker. Stir in the milk and food coloring. Freeze the mixture in the maker, being sure to follow the manufacturer's directions.
